“My previous business and personal experiences with family members who were overwhelmed with emotions and the need to make crucial life-changing decisions without adequate information convinced me that I can and should serve my community in this capacity. With so many entering the Medicare environment every day and the ever-changing challenges in healthcare coverage that they face, the need for people to serve in this area is crucial and I am extremely honored and excited about the opportunity to provide help and guidance to them.

David adds, “After finishing my undergraduate degree in Health Information Management from the University of Mississippi, I married my high school sweetheart, Leigh Potts Johnson, worked a year as a department head in a hospital and then enrolled in the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I received a Masters of Science degree in Hospital and Health Administration.

For the past 30 years, David has worked with providers, purchasers and enrollees to implement innovative delivery and acquisition models designed to produce a higher level of care and value for all involved. He combines his compassion for people and his knowledge and of all aspects of healthcare delivery to generate solutions for individuals who are seeking an improved quality of life.

Johnson states, “My previous business and personal experiences with family members who were overwhelmed with emotions and the need to make crucial life-changing decisions without adequate information convinced me that I can and should serve my community in this capacity. With so many entering the Medicare environment every day (approximately 50,000) and the ever-changing challenges in healthcare coverage that they face, the need for people to serve in this area is crucial and I am extremely honored and excited about the opportunity to be a part providing help and guidance to them.

David now spends most of his time touring and reviewing local living communities-including assisted living, independent living, dementia and memory care, and residential homes. He meets one-on-one with families to listen to and assess their needs. David then accompanies family members on tours of pre-approved facilities, assists them with their negotiations and paperwork and follows up with them once placement has been made. He admits, “Getting to know these seniors and their families and then placing them in the right home, is the most rewarding part of my job at Senior Care Authority.”

David and Leigh are blessed with two daughters and a son and two granddaughters and a grandson on the way. They stay busy visiting all their children and grandchildren, but in their spare time, they enjoy walks by the bay, lots of gulf-coast seafood and SEC football. David and Leigh are both active in their local church, where they serve as small group leaders, as well as other local organizations.

They both agree that their motivation for most of what they do can be summed up in one verse:  "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God's grace."  I Peter 4:10
